Puchased 2005 piaggio zip sp-0 miles on clock Stock speed restricted: 29mph flat ground, 35mph downhill.27mph uphill. accelerationainful Variator ring removed: 35 flat ground,40-44mph downhill.29mph uphill. accelerationtill painful Variator ring removed, exhaust derestricted, SAI system removed and 58 main jet in carb: 45mph flat ground, 50mph downhill or a tailwind.40mph uphill. acceleration: huge improvement, can pull away from traffic at lights now instead of lagging behind. Exhaust derestriction consisted of cutting off the two blind pipes and the smaller diameter pipe that runs into the SAI box and welding over the holes. The SAI box was unscrewed and removed from engine along with the tube from it that runs into the back of the CVT case. The CVT case hole was plugged with a tapered rubber disc tapped in and a drop of superglue. With the exhaust, mudguard and rear wheel removed you can access the carb from underneath the bike to change the main jet without disturbing any bodywork.
i would still expect more top speed what weight of rollers are you using will it lift the front wheels yet
I am still using the standard rollers, 7.5gram each. It feels pretty sharp for a standard 50. It would be quicker with a lighter rider. I am quite heavy and you really notice any extra weight with a small engine. The front wheel will lift with a tug on the handlebars once the clutch has fully engaged and the revs are starting to build. I believe there may be a little more to be gained from going to slightly lighter rollers as it can actually hold its speed better on hills once the belt has reached the top of the variator and revs have picked up a little. However, I am quite happy with how it moves now.
