    Hi guys n gals,

I've got this "squish" thing rattling around in my head and i need it to be explained to me in lay-mans terms please. I've read people saying they got the squish down to .58 and i presume they mean the base gasket or head gasket, but from my days of training you put the gasket on, torque it down to the right spec and job done. Is this the same as "the squish"?

The squish is the distance measured between the piston and cylinder head at tdc buddy :)

Just one comment- getting the squitch down to a small value is not a recipie for instant power. But it can be a recipie for pre-detonation, holes in pistons and all manner of other woes.
Respect the manufacturer's spec, and if in doubt, go a bit bigger.
And if it says 0.7 or lower, you need to use the highest octane fuel you can.http://www.vintagesleds.com/library/manuals/misc/Two-stroke Tuner's Handbook.pdf

So how did you achieve this squish figure? By overtightening the bolts or using different gasket sizes?

I never run a squish lower than 0.8mm on an L/C engine and about 1.0mm on A/C.

Different gaskets and if none is thin enough machine a bit off the head :)
