My manual says sae 90 so looking for sae 90 everything iv come across thus far says its compatible with manual transmissions is this stuff compatible with an automatic scooter? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161050048246?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT If not whats a compatible product i can get for the same price, if not cheaper.
should be fine. its the stuff I use anyway and never had any problems. silkolene do a bottle that's similar for scooters specifically but cant find anywhere online that does it, that's good oil too. might be worth popping to local bike shop.
Whats the best way to get it in from a large bottle like this? My scooter takes 200ml. Last time I used a 10ml seringe and did that 20 times which was a pain is the arse (knees) is there a trick or cheap product I can use to get the right amount in there fast?
theres two ways - measure it in a jug and use a small funnel and pour 210ml in there (theres usually a spillage so add a little extra to allow for it) just use the above method but straight from the bottle until the fill hole overflows. that means its full. Its the way I was taught anyway.
thats not actually the correct one, this is what ive always used for thick gear oil http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Castrol-M...140-1-Litre-/291550638754?hash=item43e1c5b2a2 but its not so important really as long as you get about the right grade it should be fine
Can't use a funnel because the fill hole is a bolt that's sideways so its an absolute pain in the arse. Theres also a warning in the manual not to fill it to the top in bold writing saying it only fills half way. On the kymco forum it also warns not to do that as filling it to the top would be almost double the amount of oil needed.
i think the fill hole is the measure hole on those so fill it till it starts weeping out the hole and that should be 200ml? i could be wrong though
which is why the fill hole is where it is and why I was always taught to fill it until it starts coming out.... its always been that way on every scoot ive had/worked on and never had any issues doing it that way...
when I do my landrover diffs and gear box I use a length of pipe poke one end in filler hole put funnel in other end measure out amount of ep90 then slowly pour in to funnel ,let gratify do the work a warm day helps
