sorted the kickstart on the neos, plonker had put the washer on the inside of the kickstart shaft, inside the case, instead of on the outside of the case behind the kickstart lever. Works now. And doesn't snag the spring. And it picks up very nicely. Just waiting on the front headlight panel to arrive and its ready for MOT and re-sale.
Had the appretice re-jet the gilera for the new carb, that now responds well; he still has to put the panels back on so they don't get damaged and trod on.
That POS vx125 that got bought in is still on the ramp, whoever put it together is a chimp, timing was way out but luckily hadn't contacted the valves, the two rocker shaft plate retaining bolts were so far unscrewed that they were sitting against the cam pulley. And to get to them to tighten them up properly you have to remove the head! That means new gaskets. The rear pads had gone through to the metal, scoring the disc, and the suspension support bearing is shot to hell. Front pads have fell off the backing plates, handlebars are bent.
He would like to have it by the end of the month. But it has no body panels yet or MOT.
And as for the gilera ice that i bought, well thats another story.........and another upcoming project thread.

Well, the apprentice has got fed up of his nrg and decided he wants either the Runner i have or the Ice.
So I planted a seed in his head tonight...........stick a typhoon 125 lump into it, vx forks, renthal bars on the stage 6 adapter, chrome bucket speedo and rev counter.
    He hates me now...................;)

Yay! Tonight I scored the Speedfight handlebars and clocks that I want for my project and they are both from the same seller. The handlebars come complete with all of the wiring and brake levers, that makes life a lot easier. The clocks are from an LC Speedfight, so the temperature gauge will be taken out and it will be replaced by a mini rev counter.

When I get paid next week, I'll source the remaining parts I need such as tyres, valves, rear brake cable, wheel bearings and seal etc. and the new bodywork panels, seat and belly pan, then it's on to find some suitable indicators for the front to replace the Trekker ones that were on the bars, as well as find some Speedfight handlebar fairings and the mini rev counter.

The plan is coming together now, oh yes... :D

gonna get my head down.keep my nose clean...pile on the overtime, save up the readies, live on beans on toast for a couple of months, then score a C90 off of a sensible owner, then do a comprehensive factory rebuild on the 70,over the space of a year........see you then................... .

Nice one Mark, gonna be a bitch having to get up every day though, thats what i found after being able to dictate when i worked or not. But well done anyway, a steady income always allows you to plan ahead.

The front panel arrived for the neos yesterday, brand spanking new as well, a bargain at £20. Apprentice put it on, a little gingerly because he didn't want to scratch it bless him:). It's all ready for the mot now, only one more problem......the mot tester has buggered off to Turkey for a fortnight!
Started putting the panels back onto the runner, got waylaid by a customer who wants to spend loads of dollars on his FXR180, and I mean loads of dollars. He wants to make it the quickest FXR around. I think I've talked him into leaving it til after the new year when the bad weather is probably here, because that will give me more time to research possibilities, and possibly more time to do it, and also cost it properly. Plus the fact that hopefully he won't want to ride in the freezing cold weather so won't be on my case every 5 minutes.
Got me thinking about a twin PM360 exhaust system, one each side, from a single downpipe.
Probably won't work, but you can see where i'm going.

I know. :D The overall final effect I am aiming for is that people will look at it and know instinctively that it's a Peugeot, but then they will look closer and think "What the...?", as they will start to realise that it's not a standard Peugeot model, despite the parts all being Peugeot - it's going to mess with people's heads. Throw in the other retro style badges that I have in mind that hark back to '70s, '80s and early '90s machines and that will just add to the confusion.

It's carefully mixed and matched parts, nearly all from Peugeot but the final result will look coherent and as if it was designed that way. That's why I have nicknamed it "Project SpeedTrek". If I could find someone to mill up some aluminium retro-style "SpeedTrek" badges that I could polish up and lacquer before I put them on the bike, that would really top this project off.

You need someone with one of those water jet cutting machines for that i think.
I don't know anyone who has one unfortunately, otherwise i'd always be there:D

brothers scooter got picked up by the new place he works at today, hes put the carb etc on, all he has to do now is put fuel in and it should fire up apparently. forks are fucked, but hes intending on riding it until MOT is up and then sorting it - even though theres absolutely no movement in them, no oil and the chrome is pitted to hell, well not pitted but almost completely rusted. hell also be riding with no front brake and a illegal rear tyre which is so bald if he rides in the rain, he will aquaplane.
if he wants to kill himself I shall just leave him to it.
today I took the wheels off the jog, took the tyres off, soaked the wheels in paint stripper and got the bearings out, resprayed the wheels, replaced bearings, put some fresh rubber on it and replaced a cracked lense. pretty happy now.

Having an attack of being sensible & realistic at the moment.!.,
come to realise,my view of how I want the c70/90 combo to turn out...has been 'infected' by my ideal,of how my NE will turn out in the end.
Decided with the 70 to do all the work myself and not farm a fair lot of work out, working on the premise as well/i'll be able to use engine as is....with adjustments/tidy of course -
so...tidy,fairly well put together, working class bike it is,sure...they'll be some aftermarket replacement bits on it,but the central theme is based on what made it my choice in the 1st place,yup.:).

I have a few sticker decal that I got from Polini, Malossi and Dr Pulley. The look great but I think my scooter looks mint and putting them on will only diminish the look of it. I am probably answering my own question here but is anyone a fan of putting them on? (especially if you are using their parts)
