Well I picked up a copy of scoote ring magazine today and there was a report from the Milan. Both LML and Piaggio are dropping two strokes in their Star and PX ranges meaning no manufacturer will have the option of a two stroke over 49cc. The reasons they gave was to comply with the new Euro 4 emissions regulations.
    Personally I am gutted.

Liverpool has a big 'traditional' scooter club scene so I see loads of club ride outs and stuff like that. I grew up watching 2 stroke MotoGP 500's 250's 125's and 80's so have always loved them. Just sad to see manufacturers turn away from them.

But the Euro emissions have long since been surpassed, we're on Euro 6 standards now as far as the trucks are concerned.
I know moto-X stopped using 2t long ago.
As far as i can see, Piaggio are only dropping the 2T engines on the bigger models, 125's and 150's. I can't really see them dropping the engines on the likes of the 50cc runner and nrg and zip until they are forced to by european laws.
I'm sure it will happen sooner or later, but that just makes my job more expensive for the customer. And it won't stop anybody modding the bikes either.

The thing is, is there really a market for 2t anymore?
most new riders want a reliable nice sounding machine that doesnt sound like a wasp stuck in a tin can and something that is cheap to run... Nobody really wants 2t anymore and ive noticed a huge drop in people actually tuning scooters now

    were a dying breed i think :(
