nope. v62 is simply applying for logbook, if you mean new keepers slip I think you can but not 100% if you don't have new keepers slip you need to apply for one using the v62 and then wait for a v5 to be issued before you can tax it.

Green slip is V5c. V62 is the logbook applicationform. A few years ago, you had to fill in a v62 to tax a car when you first bought it to tax it, but with the new tax laws, I do not know. I am lucky, I mot'd my scooter today and it passed. Got home to find my logbook delivered so I used the full logbook to tax it.

If you do not have the grren slip V5c, it will cost £25. I have had to do that for my Honda Bali. Logbook came today. I sent off a month ago for it. I had a letter from dvla stating it will be processed on the 18/3/15. Logbook arrived 4 days before supposedly processing.

If you bought a bike out of a shop, would'nt you be able to tax and insure it online - BEFORE it left the shop, then ride away.?.

lets clear up a few things here :)

v62 is to apply for a new v5. you CAN NOT get a vehicle taxed with this.
V5c allows you to get tax using the barcode.

you can NOT ride the bike until it is taxed in your name, tax isn't to the vehicle anymore its to the keeper one person may be the holder of tax but as soon as your butt hits the seat its not taxed. In respects to shared vehicles aslong as the person/s driving it are insured as just a occasional driver theres no legal issue. but you MUST tax the vehicle in your name before you ride it on the road or you can expect to get tugged and vehicle seized for no insurance (no tax = insurance policy invalid).

From a dealers/shop you would tax the vehicle using the V5c but presumeably the dealer would tax for you, obviously insurance has to be sorted before being ridden away but many people choose to just have the bike delivered by the dealer.
