Hello, My Sym Jet 4 125 has odd size tyres as standard which is making it hard to find a matching set with good grip. The front is 120/60-13 The rear is 130/70-12 I was looking at a Maxxis tyre or something as I miss the grip I get from my bigger bike. The question is as I am struggling to find a decent make that does a 60 profile for the front could I up it to a 70 profile. I guess I would have to up the rear to a 80 profile to keep the bikes stance for handling ?? Any help is always great Neil
Yes it's the front which is odd, the rear is a std size. If I owed the Sym I would fit a 130/60-13 tyre on the front and a 140/70-12 on the rear. But don't take my advise on this matter as correct but it's what I would use. The std front tyre 120/60-13 are about £100!!!!!!!!!
Because the 130/60- 13 tyre is easy to get hold of plus fitting a wider tyre will belly out to make it slightly taller (diameter) on the thin rim and do the same to the rear to compensate the front.
? maybe but for the price of two tyres I'd try it! If your unsure then you'll have to buy original fittment tyres.
Could I get away with fitting 130/60-13 front and 130/70-12 rear. Would it matter that the front and rear tyre match being 130 wide ??
