    Hi there!

Just registered on here to see if any one can help!

I bought my mum a Sym Symply scooter brand new in 2009. It's been a great wee scooter for her but hasn't been with out it's problems. The clutch went and it's had running problems. The shop I bought it from has never really been able to do anything with it and the problems keep coming back. It runs ok but it always seems to lack power. It used to do just over 30mph but for a long time its been struggling to get over 25 mph. This has happened a lot and every time it comes out of a service it works ok for a little while then goes back to the same. The only way to describe how it feels when you are riding it is to say it's as if some one is pulling you back when you get to about 26 mph. It's what its like when you used to get above the 30 mph mark. It struggles to go up hills now and I can't seem to figure out why its restriced to 26 mph now. When we got the clutch and belt replaced it nipped up to about 36 mph for a while! I know this isn't warp speed but when your used to 30 mph on it it makes a difference! This lasted for a week or so then went back to just over 30 mph. She would be happy with 30 mph if it would just run right but I cant get it to go above 25/26.

Any help that any one could give would be very much appreciated as the garage is useless.

    Thanks!

    Jon

When you have had the bike serviced have you had the rollers changed at all? If they are worn the look less cylindrical and almost "squared off". Does it feel like its struggling for fuel?

Thanks for getting back to me.

I asked about the rollers and the guy said that they were ok but people have had problems with him before and he hasn't done a great job for us either so I'm going to take it elsewhere. I'll try having a look myself. I'm not sure about the fuel. It doesn't seem to be struggling but saying that it is sluggish and takes a while to get going so I did think maybe fuel pump or carb problem?

Need to try to find a Sym specialist in Aberdeen.

    Thanks for your help!

You just need a decent garage mate! I would look through your servicing papers and see if theyve charged you for rollers and if its not on there i would definately get them replaced. They're around £10 for the rollers plus labour
