on a two stroke with running issues, where the source is unknown, the plug has always got to be replaced, even if it is something else. :)

Also note the colour of the plug and repost.

Just out of curiousity, how old is the exhaust and air filter.

    is the exhaust leaking anywhere?

When it's cold, does it run okay at first? If so, it could be the choke stuck on.

as for the black plug, running rich or choked, is it the standard carb, has it been upjetted/fiddled with?

if it was me, fresh plug, exhaust off and inspect the baffle, maybe decoke, put back together.
and then wind in the pilot air screw noting how many turns and part turns, then wind back out where it was, and wind it out further to find the fastest idle and in the process a weaker mixture for the engine.

Of course if the bike is new to you, or you have changed jets/throttle slide clip position then it's a different scenario.

you do, it's an electrically operated one/automatic choke, if you look on the top of your carb there will be some wires that come out, and connect to your wiring loom, these type of chokes can play up, but can be tested.

according to my data sheets, the pilot air screw default setting is 1 and 3/8 turns out.

and the automatic choke resistance is 10 ohms @ 20 degrees C. :) But you can just connect power to it, to see if it moves.
