Can someone please tell me how the fuel pump works so I can try to understand the problem with mine?

Basically it's not sucking any fuel out of the tank and on inspection doesn't appear to be sucking at all even when the engine is running. I see the hose coming in to the pump and the hose going out to the carb. There is also another hose the feeds down into the cowl over the cylinder head.

Should this last hose be connected to the crankcase somehow to generate a vacuum in the fuel pump?

    Thanks for any help, Daniel.

That'll be the vacuum hose then. Should connect somewhere around the manifold area
