Maybe I'm mad, but a month after getting my brand new Honda Vision 110, I can't help thinking I'd rather have a Vespa 125.....

Am I clearly insane? What say you all? Keep the new Honda with legendary reliability, or swap/part-ex it now for a used Vespa a couple of years old?

Anyone here riding a Vespa ET, LX or GTS?

What about part-exchanging it for a WK Bikes Bellissima 125? Or is that just nuts?

Personally I'd keep the Honda, personally I think the new Vespa (new in the sense of not the original), are proper ugly :p

What about a PX? Retro style 125, geared scooter?

Aren't they 150cc though? No good for a learner, sadly....

vespa t5 classic are learner legal you used to be able to do your test on one the only negative they all have drums brakes besides the t5 millenium which has a front disc , i have one limited to 400 scooters worldwide so hold there value if you ever want to part with scoot, also they are nearly as quick as a px 200 , the lml scooters have better paint finish than vespas but cranks are weak and have problamatic wiring harnesses and dont hold there money .

Im not too sure about LML build quality, I have heard it is much improved from a few years back but was looking at them a few weeks back in a shop.
The support for the front suspension link on all 3 models in stock had rust coming through the paint and there were areas underneath the body that were still bare steel or covered in a fine mist of paint. Then again I haven't looked closely at a genuine vespa px to see if they are any better.

Job done. Sold the Honda on Tuesday, bought a Vespa last night. Pick it up this Saturday. Happy days, I hope!

What an idiot....I should have kept the Honda!

Got stopped by plod tonight on my way home - back lights all out. No tool kit under seat. Plod proceeds to sit behind me for 2hours and 10 mins, saying he'll nick me if I drive off, as its dark and I got no lights. I call breakdown service - "be there in under and hour".

    Mobile phone dies.

An hour passes. Another police car shows up. "If you're here in 20 minutes you can use my phone".

    I never see him again!

30 minutes later - more police. I ask to use their phone - no problem. I call the breakdown - running late, be there by 1.30am. 2 hours after my original call!

1.29am. Bloke shows up, has a go at me for turning my phone off!! I tell him the bloody battery is dead.

Surly bloke unscrews brake light, jiggles wires, light comes on. I go home.

    The end.

    Grrrrrr!

I did it while I had the money. I don't really regret it, it's just one of those things I suppose. Chalk it up to experience....

if you had bought a classic vespa the police dont even notice you , if you keep a rear pushbike led light under seat you could have attached it to get you home , do a led conversion on rear light loads more reliable than a bulb this is what i have done on my vespa smallframe
