basically i was cruising along at around 45 mph and my suzuki seemed to just lose power, as i was pulling over in the middle of nowhere and let go of the throttle my scooter just died. when i tried to start it 5 minutes later it didnt sound right so my dad came and picked me and the scooter up and i got it home and stripped it down, ive replaced the piston and rings, ive also replaced the spark plug. ive got compression too but heres the thing, when i kickstart my scooter and i hold full revs on, the bike will start but will sound horrid and after around 5-10 seconds of fullr revs the wheel wil start to move but at a silly constant speed but like i said the bike sounds horrible and again as soon as i let go of the throttle the bikes dies. the scooter will not start with the electric start just the way i spoke of before, its really getting on my tits tbh as its been stood for 2 weeks and i just want to get it back on the road, is there any ideas of what it could be? HELP!
    thanks :)

replaced with brand new, or one lying around ?
and why did you change it?
sure the oil pump is working?
    was it over heating?
did you fit arrow to exhaust port?

on top of the piston, is an arrow, this needs to point to the exhaust port. The piston looks round, but is egg shaped to accommodate non-linear expansion of the cylinder, as the exhaust side gets hotter. Also the position of the gaps in the piston rings is crucial, other wise they can snag and snap off, causing damage.

so if you don't know, I suggest you whip the head off and have a look. Or after a few minutes of running, it will conk out at best, sooner or later damage will occur.

You say the old piston looked shagged, but every picture tells a story, because if something caused that, other than serious high mileage, and you haven't put it right, it will happen again.

Took it to my dads uncle who's sort of fixing up old style motorbikes and he said he'd have a look at it so I've left it with him, the arrow was pointing down so that's okay but he's going to check everything anyway, he has a suspicion that it may be crank related? I haven't a clue but thanks for the input guys! Maybe looking for a new scooter so of there's any around let me know!:)
