We went out on a rideout today myself and hubby and my son, got 15 miles up the road when my boys Gilera Ice decides to loose speed. First off I thought it might be the variator nut come loose, but after having the tranny casing off to have a look its all fine? The belts all intact and moves freely, but doesnt move the back wheel. The clutch bell seems to move freely by itself :msn1: It also won't start now either...any ideas???
Yeah when I turn the clutch bell the back wheel moves...gears hmmm not to bad to sort then...cheers for that
doesnt sound like the gears as thats all normal for the bell to move the wheel but try to hold the wheel and move the bell if the bell moves by its self not putting too much effort to moveing the wheel id rekon sumthings grinded the gears or sumthing
Hmmm I think I'll get the scoot shop to take a look tomorrow for me anyways.....it was just for a rough idea what might be wrong, after speaking to tweak on MSN I dont think its the gears
from what you say i rekon gears are fine too as it sounds all normal are there any performance parts have been fitted to the engine
Its got: 70cc kit...malossi I think as I didnt have this fitted it came with the scoot. Malossi multivar with 5.5g rollers Dellorto 21mm carb, manual choke Carbon fibre malossi reeds Leo vinci exhaust (came with scoot) thats about it so far..
do you know how old the kit is it might need rings and have you tryed a diff spark plug my old nrg a/c used to always need new ones
Found out today finally what was wrong with it, the barrel had siezed ..so looks like a new kit is in order arc: .....dunno wether to get him a standard 50cc kit or replace with a 70cc one as he was caught speeding aswell which dont help matters!....only had his license a 2 months and bike on the road just over a month  ...fecking kids LOL! :emb:
Go onnn, get him a 70 kit... with the stuff he has at the moment he will be able to speed with standard cylinder... speeding is speeding, so may as well make it worth while
get a 70, but ask yourself, why has it seized, was the bike cold?, what kind of oil does he use? is an oil passage blocked? is the mixture right? is there an air leak?
I think the oil pump is knackered tbh, I'd checked plug colour etc a few times as it was bogging down abit and it always seemed fine His oil is a good oil fully synth Motorex oil same as what I have always used and never had any probs with, I think at higher speeds it was oil starved, so the next thing to check is the oil pump etc to see if thats where the problem lies... 70 kit it is then.....hmmm which one to go for this time? imp:
first thing to do is change the oil pump and belt before anything else, i would go with an alloy 2 ring kit, nothing too powerful or it will be needing piston kits at each petrol station.
probably wasent wound oput fully when the 70 kit was fitted.. at full throttle the cable should be completly straight on the oil pump armature crescent (ill take pics of it properly set if you like)
I didnt realise theres such a choice for kits for the 50cc market....hmmm malossi mhr? or stage 6? etc etc
tango id get a mhr ep kit it will be good kit there reliable i am told oh minor can you take a pic how the pump is suposed to be set for 70 kit as i need to do it to my nrg
Think I'm going to go for the polini on minors recommendation But which one to get? 1. http://scooter-center.com/catalog/produ ... 0cd433710e 2. http://scooter-center.com/catalog/produ ... 0cd433710e 3. http://scooter-center.com/catalog/produ ... 0cd433710e I'm going to have to get the kit and fit this first to see if the oil pump is working ok...then see from there EDIT: links are to same thing even though Ive copied and pasted from different pages lol
Thats wierd cos when I click on them I get different pages...fook knows whats happening!...ah well you get the jist...post links here to what I need then
