We went out on a rideout today myself and hubby and my son, got 15 miles up the road when my boys Gilera Ice decides to loose speed. First off I thought it might be the variator nut come loose, but after having the tranny casing off to have a look its all fine?
The belts all intact and moves freely, but doesnt move the back wheel. The clutch bell seems to move freely by itself :msn1: It also won't start now either...any ideas???

doesnt sound like the gears as thats all normal for the bell to move the wheel but try to hold the wheel and move the bell if the bell moves by its self not putting too much effort to moveing the wheel id rekon sumthings grinded the gears or sumthing

Go onnn, get him a 70 kit... with the stuff he has at the moment he will be able to speed with standard cylinder... speeding is speeding, so may as well make it worth while :D

get a 70, but ask yourself, why has it seized, was the bike cold?, what kind of oil does he use? is an oil passage blocked? is the mixture right? is there an air leak?

I think the oil pump is knackered tbh, I'd checked plug colour etc a few times as it was bogging down abit and it always seemed fine :( His oil is a good oil fully synth Motorex oil same as what I have always used and never had any probs with, I think at higher speeds it was oil starved, so the next thing to check is the oil pump etc to see if thats where the problem lies...

70 kit it is then.....hmmm which one to go for this time? :pimp:

first thing to do is change the oil pump and belt before anything else, i would go with an alloy 2 ring kit, nothing too powerful or it will be needing piston kits at each petrol station.

probably wasent wound oput fully when the 70 kit was fitted.. at full throttle the cable should be completly straight on the oil pump armature crescent (ill take pics of it properly set if you like)
