Right. Just gone to leave work and the scooter won't run.
It'll start, run for about 10 seconds, then dies.
The battery seems to have gone flat too.
Not sure if that's related. I've had the carb off and everything "seems" okay.
    Ideas please people
    Thanks
    Sean.

try starting it and giving a tiny bit of throttle so it picks up and trys to boost the battery . make sure all powered items are off ie lights/ winkers etc etc. also dont use the starter it drains battery more, if able kickstart it ( kickstart does not require batetry it runs from the stator )

possible to jumpstart bike (12v battery ) ? leave al lights off, if it starts and runs up just keep giving it mild throttle in hope it injects some charge into the battery.

check the vacuum pipe to petcock, it could be loose causing intermitent stating then failing over when carb bowl has run dry to.

    You checked the spark plug?

Right. Went back to work with the new charged up battery. Put it on and it started straight away, ran for a bit longer then died again and wouldn't restart at all. Left it there. I'll have another look tomorrow.
I've got a spark. There is fuel there so I don't know ???

Have you checked the spark plug to see if it's covered in oil or clean? If it's covered in oil it won't spark properly there for bike won't run so you will need to clean it

Yep, took it out, it did look a bit oily so I gave it a clean. It'll have to wait until tomorrow now. I've left it at work !!

Had a bit of a think and the only thing that has changed since Saturday is .... I put some petrol in with some oil mixed in, I was in a bit of a rush so (guilty as charged your honor) I just glugged some in, so now I'm thinking that, along with the oil pump dose, might be far too much oil and is fouling the plug. The reason I'm running extra oil in the tank is due to the fact that I have a Malossi Sport kit and read it was best to but is it necessary when I'm running the kit in at lower revs ?
I'll take some fresh petrol, drain the tank and refill, pull out the plug and give it a good clean, give the carb a clean and try again. Any thoughts ?

    very possible

you dont need to be adding a huge amount extra 20ml or likes to the tank, if your willing it maybe better to disconnect pump and run direct mix to the tank , before you fill up dump in your measured amount of oil required, then gush some fuel in then fill up to top as you would normally , then just swish bike bike and fourth a couple times to help mix the oil up inside tank.

get a cheap'ish screwcap bottom, measure out the required oil you need and decant it into the new bottle, run a marker pen line to that level and pop it under seat, whenever you fill up you have a bottle ready to dump in , when you get home its just a case of refilling the caddy bottle and popping it back under seat ;) ready for the next tank refill

I was toying with the idea of premix and still might at some point as for the bottle under the seat idea, we blaster owners are not blessed with luxuries such as storage space !!!

10 minutes this morning. A bit of daylight to work in, access to the fitting shop at work and it's alive again.
