Still haven't sold the Aprilia yet,
but used it earlier to go into Town and theres a loud 'knocking' like noise which sounds like its coming by the Flywheel/Water Pump,
any suggestions on what this could be?
the thing is, when you get to a certain rev (which is still low) the 'knocking' stops,
its when the Bike is left (idle) that it does it and its quite loud,
but again, keep the Bike at a certain rev and it stops...
so at Traffic Lights i had to hold the brakes in and keep it at that low rev to save the embarrassment!

When you put your hand over the Flywheel casing, you can kind of feel the knocking vibration and it sounds like its coming from by there but obv not 100%....
I just had to fork out for a new iMac for work, and now saving for the Honda, so dont really have the money to spend on getting the Aprilia fixed, which is why i've lowered the price so it can sort of be a 'project' for someone over the Summer or to get done before the Summer sort of thing..
seen a few of the same Bikes (same year etc) selling for £1500 with all standard parts on, and from Bike Dealers aswell, not personal selling... mine just might be a few adjustments to make, once those bits are sorted it would be a nice looking Bike and riding nicely, but I aint got the money to get it sorted, so dropped the overall price on it so if someone wants to spend a day or so on it looking over it etc.

You need to align the pump with the flywheel. Plasticene is your friend. Use dollops and mount it - take it all off, measure, and then shim the pump so it's parallel. Check the bearings in the pump. Does it spin freely ? Some new grommets are also a good idea. I use carefully cut water coolant hose (small diameter). Cheap and effective.Superglue them on the stubs.
    Good luck -

    Thanks alot....
I actually dont want to mess with anything as I have no clue about it all,
wanted some suggestions etc so I could include them in the Listings for selling,
be good if someone could buy it who knows about Bikes and knows how to sort it,
obv be abit of a hassle trying to sell it to someone like that though,
    fingers crossed it goes though,
cant buy my new Bike until this Aprilia has sold,
and at the moment paying Insurance for nothing as I cant really ride it like it is,
annoying, but again, I dont really want to mess with anything as I dont know about it all,
and dont have the money to pay a Garage, especially if its a few things that need sorting.

I'd keep it. It's not rocket science. Have it off, look at it, understand it and do it !

It's already P'd me off too much, just want rid and my new Bike ready for the Summer,
rather not mess with it anymore as when I do something else always messes up,
just my luck... so yeah, fingers crossed it sells and the next Owner can get it sorted,
as I dont have the time or money at the moment to get it sorted myself.

As you said, there are std Aprilias for more money than your's, people want std scooters that havn't been messed with so I think you need to sort it out and drop the price to be honest!

hi Jo Jo.might be a worn part in the case.variator/clutch?. If the noise is a knocky noise... Cam chains don't make that noise.interesting it goes when the brakes on..loose bits behind the case..if you can feel itwith your hand on the case ide say same as others..whip the case off, have a tug about. I know how ya feel with panel removal.i got a chink and first night i got it..before i got it home the panels were off.on and off ever since.sounds like your engine NEEDS attention very soon.try it in stages...one day take panels off.use as excuse for cleaning the frame.then as it looks nicer..undo the bolts on the worse rattling side..have a cup of tea..stiff whisky, what ever .rrhem just check over as you want pull a few bits kick a few bits..spit at stuff..but check it..pleeese..you come along way to get it here.you need to do the oily bits now the shiney bits Are done.helps resale too.if some one came and knew what it was they could b.s you it was serious and you might drop the price to get shot
but a full overall and a nice ticket saying ..pukka..your in control.if you ain't gonna do what we suggest..you could loose money and wait a long time for a buyer.if i was in England ide be on my on a chinky bike to help ya..i lived in burton .gotta be a member near you

Hey, the knocking noise is on the other side of the Bike which sounds like its coming from the Flywheel, when you put your hand on the casing for it you can kind of feel the knocking vibration.

The Chain sound is coming from the other side, if you stand on the other side of the Bike all you can hear is a certain noise, which does sound like a Chain, and when you stand on the other side, you hear the knocking.....

The knocking, it goes when the Bikes riding, but its there when the Bikes at a stop (not with brakes on, just stopped).... my Stepdad mentioned the Bearing in there, as when the Bikes riding the Flywheel is spinning fast, and then when the Bikes slowing down/stopped the Flywheel is slowing down so wobbling more (obv not 100% on this).

and I live in Wales :p

I really dont want to mess with anything as I dont have a clue about any of it and dont want to make it worse as I definitely wont sell it, everyone has mentioned the Cam Chain for 1 noise and the Flywheel for the knocking, so aslong as those 2 are mentioned in Listings when selling.... but again, I dont have a clue about any of it, complete amateur with all that and dont want it messing up more.

The fact that im not sure on the full mileage aswell is annoying,
as I bought it just under a year ago with the Koso Speedo on it, and it had about 1440 on it, since i've had it its now on just over 3000 I think, and I havent taken it in for a service yet, and im not sure when the last one was, the fact im not sure on the mileage........ oils i've changed myself, and the engine oil filter, but things 'inside' the Bike I havent changed or adjusted etc as im not sure on all that.

Just want gone, lowest i'd take is £1000 anyway, as again everyone i've asked have said it's most probably those 2 things and not hard to sort so hoping someone that knows abit about Bikes will buy it and sort it easily.

Well I had someone view it 2 days ago, they said they'll have a think and let me know... they seemed pretty pleased with it.... selling it for £900 lowest anyway.

Got it at £800, had a few people interested but haven't got back to me, abit annoying, I noticed the rattling sound on the 1 side goes is 1 of the pipes hanging down is covered :-/ not sure how to sort that (not that im going to try anyway), the knocking sound on the other side is still there obviously as I havent checked anything and dont really want to be taking all that off especially as I know nothing about it all, just hoping it goes soon, dont want to take too little for it as it is a nice runner and obv looks decent, its mainly just me not knowing too much, the bits might be easy to sort and take someone with some Bike knowledge a hour to sort, but then again, not 100% sure, just hoping it goes, really want to get the Honda PCX but cant get it yet until this Aprilia is gone as there is no room for the Honda yet!

Be aware, that what ever price you put it for sale at-
people will always try to lower it,so's set it slightly higher than the realistic price you want, grumble a little if they offer lower, refuse if too low/using excuse someone's offered higher...
end of the day, give buyer the impression they win.;) .
