starter relay

    Hi i cannot start my mc3 on the button push as all i get is a clicking noise from the starter relay have taken off replaced with new one still the same before i rip out starter motor and check anyone have any opinions on what else it could be ??? thx

    Check the earth wire that bolts on using one of the starter motor bolts and that the live wire from the starter motor to the relay is firmly connected. If the brake light dims out when you press the starter button then the motor could be jammed. if it doesn't dim out then you have an electrical issue and you need to trace the wiring.
    Is the battery in good condition?

    battery all good pushing over 12 volts on meter will check out cables over the weekend will have a quick look at brake light tues/wed if i can i think the lights are not connected at mo so would that make earthing a poss problem with relay ???

    If the brake light isn't connected, it won't draw enough current to pull the starter relay on when you pull the brake lever, that's if it draws any current at all, as the circuit isn't complete. The circuit needs the resistance of the brake light bulb to hold the low tension circuit on. That could be your problem.

    hi merlin cheers for reply i will connect back up and see what happens hopefully that is the problem i took it apart because it was hanging down at back and getting in the way did not want to break the cables i will check sunday as first day i will be able to get up there again this week cheers for info i will report back
