My bike decides to start one day and sometimes it doesn't start using electric start

    IS this the starter motor?

If so i think i need a new one :nerd: i heard they are quite expensive to replace :(

Where could i get one and are they easy to fit?

    Thanks

depends on what it's doing. could be relay, pinion, motor, switch, earth, battery etc...

indicators and lights are fine just wont start on electric :(

Could it be spark plug by any chance?

Will leaving it idle for a while give the battery a charge or am i better of buying a charger?

leaving it on idle wont charge the battery, you have to be doing a certain amount of revs to charge it, on my vx i believe you have to be doing over 2500 revs to charge

when you say it sometimes doesnt work...is it just silent...starter not trying to turn the engine at all??

if so it sounds like a dodgy earth!!!

And starters arent that expensive....ive seen new ones on E-bay for about a tenner!!

actually, when not using the electrics it will charge the battery at tickover, not very quickly though, it won't reach optimum output til 4000-5000 RPM

thats the battery mate. mine sounded identical, basicaly when there isnt enough charge in the battery, the starter motor doesent have enough energy to engage , so just spins until it runs out of power, pick up a new battery cheap from halfords or somethin.
