Just thought I'd share a picture of the Zip again after tonights mods.

I took the Malossi MHR reed block and manifold off, and fitted stage6 reeds / spacer block / manifold and filter.

The reed block is a lot wider in the mouth than the Malossi one and the spacer / block / manifold matched up perfectly with no filing required, unlike the Malossi one.

It makes a bit more induction noise now and the carb sits a lot better so I'm chuffed with that, the reeds are a bit stiffer so the throttle response is a bit snappier.

    Good stuff.

It won't be much different in outright power, its the throttle response I wanted to improve.

Although I am taking my old parts to the next race just in case lol!

used a few of these now both in stage 6 and pro porting brand form and i cant say im impressed...., the match is good, altho the angle causes a silly kink in thew inlet tract (unless this is to promote the loss of induction pulse and gain some low mid power, but its not geard so i see no point in this)

needs ether a stuffer/blob comming off the manifold or a shaped curve in the start of the block, ether way its too big to flow correctly. smaller diameter would be a better option. then again the dyno will reveal all.

not picking at your bike, just wanting some feedback/results on a dyno/different opinions of these as inmprincaple its a poorly desighned part. dont mind being proved wrong tho

The angle is a lot smoother that the MHR one I had, it has a matched stuffer too for the spacer, one of the problems with the MHR one is that the carb sits on the back tire and has to be forced to sit awkwardly by use of tie-wraps!

The carb seating problem was another good reason for trying the Stage6 parts but as you say time will tell, if its no good we will get it on the dyno and see what can be done.

Any data I get I'll share on here.

nice nice... just those ive seen pics of the cutaway give more of an angular match than any other... got pics of the stuffer atall as it may be somthing ive not seen...

working on somthing similar myself but i had a little epipheney with these, maybe put the wedge spacer in BACKWARDS so it matches the angle? would make for some silly carb angle but im sure wiht the correct float setup it could work, or maybe a diff rubber? ether way theser poarts are promissing but require a little more development as the area could be smaller and still flow the same ammount..

again tho.. the angular match on the reedblock tends to lend itself to a more vertical spacer and a curved inlet or just an inlet wiht a stuffer similar to that found on the dt/rs and the like.. still interested to see this stuffer tho.
