Hi i bought a s6 streetrace kit but it neva came with a thermostat do i need to buy one or can i run it without one would it be safe to ??
Ummm im not 2 sure i bought the s6 streetrace and it neva had any thermostat or wires with it lk my old cylinder did :/
The thermostat is the bit the blocks off the flow of coolant, it bolt to the inside if the head. The temperature sender screws in on the outside of the head to the left of the spark plug hole, and gives the reading on the dials.
Yh the s6 streetrace hasent got any of these do i need to buy them or is it possible to run without these obv i dont wnt my engine to overheat?
pull the temp sender out of your old 50cc head.. and stick it in the S6... it is completely safe to run no thermostat and actually very easy to bleed the system with it out.... you may want to put it back in in winter so the engine stays at a steady tempreture
Ohh ok so ill put the temp sender off my old cyclinder on the s6 and tht will giv me my temp reading on dials do i not need to take the old thermostat out aswel and fit tht or is just the wire bit and husky what did you mean about bleeding the system sorry confused as im new to this regards
If you fit the thermostat... it will remain closed until hot water passes through it... so when you fill the bike up with water, its very hard to get all the air pockets out in the water system ecause the thermostat is closed. If you decide not to run a thermostat... it is very easy to (bleed) get the air pockets out because there is a nice flow through the water system If you want to run a thermostat, take the two screws out that hold it in on your old head, and just screw it in the new S6 head. Just remember to bleed it properly, while your filling up the bike with water... pinh the hoses to sqeeze the air bubbles out... you will hear the bubbles come out up the top where your filling up the water hope thats clear!!!
sorry to hijack someone again.. lol.. but how do you bleed radiators? got fresh coolant n dont wanna waste it puttin it in then havin to bleed it
