Hi, ive heard about the small end bearings going on mk2's pretty easily? wondering if theres anybody who has experianced this or if there's any ways to try and avoid this happening like using the stage 6 kit and crank or using 12mm instead of 10?
    Thanks.

no it's bull shit, you replace it when you replace the piston (2k if you're lucky) I run mine on a pm small end bearing. never had any problems with it.

end of the day, the higher you tune your bike the more you need to service it. my local race team replaces the small end after ever race because the only time they didnt do it the next race was a DNF due to the small end.

it's all to do with the RPM's your bike puts out.
sports kits = 9000 rpm, service 4000-6000 miles
    mid-race = 11000 rpm, service 2000-3000 miles
high end = 12000+ rpm, service 1000 miles max
race(max sec) 12000 to 14000 rpm, main service 200 miles small over hall every race

ppl never think about the work need when they build an engine. anything over sport need constant work, if you stay ontop of it there is less chance of a problem, but they will still happen
