Basically, its a standard SR50... but... its had a gear up kit and polini variator stuck in it... now i'm sure either the gear up kit needs to come out, or the rollers are WAY too light for the bike... cos its all rev and no go. Is it worth putting the original gear up kit back in the bike, and getting the standard weight rollers for the bike... or what else can i do..? Would a gear up kit on a standard 50cc engine make any difference, as it just revs at full revs but acceleration is terrible. thanks for any advice in advance. cheers
yea true, but that isnt the plan right now... for now we just want it to be working all good, like the standard 50cc engine should.. and i dont think the gear up kit is doing it any favors.
ye but your take the gear up out and buy a new standard gearing and then want it faster and just put it back in might aswell just buy a 70 and it will pull straight through the gears, the 70 will be more reliable aswell as it isent revving as much due to gear kit. Polini cast iron kit wouild last ages if jetted right
For the time being my bro just want a ped that can get him from a to b and isnt gonna mess up... so for the minute, its worth getting the bike back to standard.. i have the standard gearing which is a result, but for now we're just gonna stick some heavier rollers in it, and hopefully it will cure the rev and NO go problem.
no, it wont. listen to what the people are saying, if you have a gearup kit in a standard setup, you have 2 options Numero une - remove le gearup Numero duex - upgrade le setup a gearup kit increases the amount of times the rear wheel spins for the amount of times the clutch bell spins, so top end is increased but its harder to start off, picture it like riding a bike in a high gear. what is probably happening is because there is a lot of resistance in the gearing, due to the gearup being too tall, the clutch cant turn the clutch bell, so its slipping, or the belt is, which is why it revs.
well then - although i still feel the gear up needs to come out... i have managed to sort the bike out! just stuck some much heavier rollers in it, and now its running like a dream, with a top speed of 45mph (clock speed 55mph lol)
