SR50 and AY50 - Same Engine for Year?

I was looking for some parts for my AY50 and my searches kept coming up with the same part saying it was for the SR50 and AY50. I just wondered if anyone knew if it was the same engine for a given year? I think the AY50 uses an engine designed by Morini but Im not 100%.

It would make finding parts easier.

 

Some AY50 Katana's had the Morini engine, some had an Aprilia engine.
I've had 2 katana's, not the quickest things on top end but pretty quick on take off.
I also found that above 40mph the revs sounded really high, like screaming it's nuts off high.

What parts are you looking for?

 

Bit of a mix really. Just trying to open up the options as it will make it easier to buy secondhand parts
