    Hi all
Basically i got given a sr 125 for free from my girlfriends brother :yahoo: . it had been sitting for about a year! and had no top end as the last one was scratched/scored to fuck.
anyways i bought a 172 kit but a bit reluctant to instal it as i dont fancy a repeat
because it went bang (standard 125 cylinder 12000 miles :confused:cratch: )i was thinking maybe the main bearings are fukd aswell but im wondering if its totally necessary as i dont fancy the £180 bill at the local tuning shop and will have a try myself...Ive seen it done and REMOVED one main bearing from a case LOL when my m8 was teaching me 2 do it..plus ive practically studied the haynes manual??? Is there any other checks/procedures you reckon i could do or is new main bearings and seals inevitabely what i have to do??

    setup is going to be
    malossi 172 (tick)
    MHR reed block
    polini straight inlet
    polini belt
    25mm carb (tick)
    secondary gear up kit (tick)
    technigas rs  (tick)
    Thanks in advance

feel the crank, try to pull the flywheel up and down, any movement means there prittymuch fucked. it should move a little in and out (this is the endfloat) turn the crank by hand and watch the conrod/variator shaft to see if they run true (in a straight line) or if ether componants drift off centre when turned (are bent) the same go's for the crank webs (look into the engine, the big bits of the crank ether side of the conrod) if all this is straight, running true and feels like it turns freely and wihtout relaly tight spots (ignor the magnetic effect of the stator) and there is no up or down movement on the crank then id say its good... if in doubt about fitting a crank just dont do it yourself... pay somone the dogh, itl always e wortth it in the end.

standard motors sometimes break up the rings if something gets in there. its a/c so if someone ran it with the cover off it could have heat seized.

make sure you oil up the bearings and crank before you install anything it has been a year after all then prey
