As the title says, I just got myself an SR125. Always like Aprilias and thought the 50s I had years ago were great to ride so wanted a 125 to tune.

My first concern is the exhaust. Whoever had it before has put a Tecnigas on it. I am well aware of their reputation for extreme rubbishness, plus I think it looks crap. Question is thougj, what is a good pipe to use on am SR? As far as I understand it you can't put a PM59 on it due to the engine mounts, or even just a Scorpion. I have thought about modifying a PM to fit but would rather not if I can help it. I have seen SIP have a stainless performance pipe on their site. Does anyone know anything about these or if they are likely to be any good? I know PM do an exhaust for the SR but all I have been told is that it's crap as well. Have also seen the Kundo exhausts, are they any good? Would really appreciate any advice.

I will be putting a Malossi 172 on it, Malossi multivar, probably a 25mm Dellorto as well as other bits. Will put a PM crank in most likely. Any advice what a good setup is? I assume the transmission is all the same as my Dragster.

The bike itself is a little scruffy, but not too bad. Will post some pics later. I like the original Racing Aprilia black panels so I might just put some new stickers over the scratches for now. After that I might buy one of the black evo panel kits off ebay and just put new stickers on it. Might also put some LED lights on the back. Are the 'angel eye' headlights you can buy legal for the road?

    Cheers

Due to the stupid engine mounts on the sr, your restricted on what you can use as you've said, the pm 52 works well but is made to be used on a 125cc, it may work with a 172, ask pm. Kundo's are crap so forget them. Or cut up a pm 55/59 to fit. i cut up a new 59 to fit my old typhoon!

Cheers for the reply. It's pretty much as I thought then. I didn't think the Kundo would be any good, but thought worth asking. I will give PM a shout and ask them about the 52 working with tuned engines. Would a 55/59 need to be made longer so it would go around the mounts? I will look into doing that. The mounts are silly, the bike would be much better if it had similar mounts to the Drag/Runner. As well as the exhaust situation, the mounts on those work really well and do a great job of soaking up the vibrations. On the SR the mounts cause a lot more vibration to go straight to the rest of the bike. It's a bit of a shame, but still really like them, glad I got one.

Do you have any thoughts on the SIP one? Also, what is the score with the Jolly Moto exhaust? I wondered if it's same story as the Kundo. I did look on Scooter Centre, and they have the Malossi exhaust listed as fitting the SR. Do you know if that's correct? I've never had a Malossi so have no idea how well they work.

I'm pretty sure Malossi pipes go on to ACs easily and offer good performance

Here's a quick pic of the SR. Don't actually think it looks too bad. Enjoying it anyway, slower than I'm used to but it's a fun ride anyway. Looking forward to tuning it. Was gonna wait a few weeks, but think I need at least a 172 NOW!!! ;)

Cheers for the exhaust advice. Still not sure what I will do. Will take a look at a PM55 I think. Also wondering about just putting a Scorpion on ot for now as I have already used a modded one with no problems. Know it's not a true power pipe, but have always found them good for justa nice sporty set up. This Tecnigas looks tiny compared to my Scorps and 59s lol.

Quick question. I am going to be waiting a few weeks before putting 172 kit on I think. But at the moment I am just wanting something I can bolt on quickly to help with acceleration. Thinking of ordering PM52 and Malossi variator to fit this week. With the 125 engine would this help with acceleration? Fairly pleased with top speed, but just want a bit more when setting off. Will put new belt on as well. Also, are PM variators any good?

Will look again at exhaust modding when I 172 it.

What ever you do, don't start cutting the fan cowling to make the exhaust fit, make the exhaust fit the scooter properly, you do't want it overheating!

Cheers, wouldn't risk cutting it. I don't like to disfigure anything on my bikes if I can help it.

Would appreciate any thoughts on the SIP exhaust I mentioned before. Also, are Jolly Moto pipes any good? Keep changing my mind, but just don't really like PM52. Not keen on how it looks. Power is main concern though, more than looks.

After giving things much thought I have now decided what I am going to be doing with it. Would appreciate feedback, think I'm doing the right thing but good to hear what others think.

First thing this week is just putting a Giannelli Freeway exhaust, 172 kit and Malossi variator.

Will be only running it like that for a couple of months. Hopefully I will be getting a TDR exhaust for it, am just about to get the measurements off the mount so they can make sure it will fit. When that goes on I will also be getting the 25mm carb, crank (not sure which, pos 54) and might also put an unlimited CDI on. Either that or put the stator, CDI and flywheel of a liquid cooled engine.

I asked several people about PM52, got a bit of a laugh and told I may as well keep Tecnigas. Was told the Freeway is a nice torquey pipe which gives a small increase over standard and defo works better than Tecnigas. The TDR will be going straight off to get chromed which I have been told could be up to 6 weeks wait time, so I needed something that was better than Tecnigas to run until that is ready.

Any thoughts? Am hoping for good results when it is all done with the TDR on it. Only hear good things about them.

Anyone know if any aftermarket forks will fit the SR? Tue ones on it are too bouncy for my liking. May be good for getting that front wheel up, but I want something that will be stable while riding through twisty country lanes at speed.

Don't know why Tapatalk has stopped displaying my posts properly. They were all in paragraphs to make for easier reading...

I hadn't seen the more recent TDR Tyga exhausts. Looks nice with the newer muffler. Looking forward to getting one on the SR. Gotta be a hell of a lot better than Tecnigas eh lol. The more I use the Tecnigas the more I realise how shitty they are. No grunt at all, and wouldn't think it was a 125 from how it sounds.
