This problem is starting to drive me nuts. got the bike and it worked now and again so i had a look at the wiring.found someone had soldered a few wires before there was 1 yellow wire split into 3 going to the dash. I checked the connection and all looked ok but if i move it at all the fuel gauge drops. I've cut and re soldered the joint but still the same :-( Anyone else had problems with there fuel gauge
The wiring on the dash circuit board rots out on them , i've had a dodgy fuel gauge sensor too before. You can try repairing the circuit with wire but by the sounds of it it's been done by someone previously. Easiest thing to do it buy a set of clocks second hand, but even then it's hard to find a decent set where everything works, and odometer reading to be close enough to yours fort mot purposes .
