after about 5 mins of cleaning up with sandpaper
only thing is i hate the look of it all polished and then that massive air box put on.
if heard they run shit with a air filter on, is this true? if i could get one wat size jet and what air filter would you recomend. if not it dont matter just think it would make it look tidier and stand out more.

the airbox doesent have to be so big ;) ;)

cam's charging but ill show you what i did wiht polly's airbox (gilly) makes it lots smaller without actually cutting the "box" area (doesent upset airflow/jetting)

wood saw then a BIG file (like, fucking big bastard file) then sand it with some 240... keep off the face (what you see in the pic) as it marks textured surfaces where as the edge will just be flat and smooth after you cut/file/sand it

looking good so far mate, they only run shit if its a crap K&N style filter. as long as its a decent foam filter and its jetted right (very important) then it will run the same as an airbox if not a little bit better. malossi do a good selection of foam filters as do polini and quite a few other brands. jetting is trial and error it all depends on your setup and each individual engine is different.
the standard jet is 86 in runner carbs id say work down from a bigger jet (example 110) to a smaller jet (example 90) than from a small jet to a bigger jet if that makes sense.

its bollocks.. on all but piped up 172's the stock airbox works best.. you get fuck all from a filter.. even when your out performing the box and haivng to use a filter its loosing power a modded box could make..

leave the airbox on.. IF you wish to remove the box then stick around a 90/92 for an open filter on the stock carb (wont run well atall at anything but full throttle) you shouldent be putting filters on stock carbs, EVER. upsets everything, mostly loss in performance and reduced fuel econimy.
