has anyone on here ever declared having a sport pipe fitted to there insurance company if you have how much extra did it cost you ?

also a quick question for a mate that is here he wants to reg his ped as a 70 as he keeps getting pulled and dont want to risk them looking to close at it has anyone done it before and how did they go about it. ?

cost me £30 more with my mods. I'm not sure on the 70's kit. I'm pretty sure they aint going to sit and take his ped apart on the side of the road.

he has gone home now so he will have to have a look online himself i think he just needs to tell the dvla about it and send of his log book to be changed over but i think going back to a 50 is a lot harder

They will just section 59 you instead which is far worse than void insurance IMO.

And come selling time NO ONE in their right mind will buy a 70 regd as a 70

As long as your not taking the piss theyre not bothered. Avon and Somerset police have got a portable rolling road which they can put a ped on and check it's speed. Apparently some guys were shitting themselves when they got pulled but when they put the peds on the rollers they found that they didn't go anywhere near as fast as they thought

Most peds sound like a swarm of angry bees and the ZX is 'e' marked so it can't be that bad. I just put one on my bike today and I think it's quiter than my Stage 6 as the tone is a lot deeper. If your exhaust is very noisy then check the manifold gasket is not blowing and check the end can and if necessary re pack it.
I honestly think that you are worrying about nothing the police have got a lot of better things to do with their time.

ive just rebuilt the bike with a new 70 kit and gave the zx a full refurb (sand down, rust treatment,re-paint) the piaggio engine doesnt use an exhaust gasket it only has a gasket were the can fits to the pipe and that gasket is new the noise is deffo comming from the out let pipe on the can il have a look at the weekend at the packing.

In theory any modification that improves performance on a moped is illegal, in that it should be restricted to a maxium speed of only 30 miles an hour any more than that and it is no longer classed as a moped and therefore your insurance would no longer be valid unless your over 16 and still riding a 50 and notified your insurance company of any mods you may have made

    Was pipe/clutch/variator/de-restriction.
