heat the cases and tap the ends of the crank with a rubber mallet

winding a nut on flat to the end of the crank and using a copper mallet works a little easier, but it needs lots of little taps and some patience if the cranks to be reused... need it bearly too hot to touch but not silly hot and it must be evenly heated or it will warp an throw out allsorts of probs.
