Hey, speedo on my scoot isn't working so I bought a speedo cable as I was told by the prev owner that was the problem but it's not. Through taking the clocks off I tested them with the old cable and they work fine so I'm taking it to be a problem with the drive at the front wheel. Anyone had this problem before? or know how to fix it? I'm going to try and see if it's maybe just not going in correctly, though I've re-done it 3 times. It's an Aerox 50cc
Sorry I totally forgot to mention that like an idiot. Updated it. I stay just outside Glasgow-how come?
the cable may be not be positioned far enough into the drive and hence not measuring the miles the wheel is doing per hour of the front wheel at all you said you tested the clock and they are working fine - on which drive did you test these clocks? was it your original drive thats on your scoot now or a drive from somewhere else, if its on your original drive and its working properly your not setting the speedo cable up properly, if you tried it on a different drive and the cable and clocks are working perfectly then its obviously your drive, it may be fucked, due to the lubrication is too little and the drive mechanisms have worn out I have a spare aerox drive that is working fine I may be able to help you out
I don't have access to another drive so I pushed the bike watching the speedo cable and it didn't turn at all. I then brought it down to my house and tested the speedo using the old, speedo cable in an electric drill (to spin it) and the speedo happily went up to 10mph every time. When I reattached the speedo cable i made sure it was going in alright and tightened it up but still the same problem
