Right here's my problem .. The previous owner hit a bump and the speedo stoped working . I have replaced the cable today and it now works intermittently . The needle wobbles between a 10mph section , instead of been smooth . The drive turns with the wheel and the clock looks fine what could be the problem . The cable is the right part and a genuine part ( new) the bike is a honda x8r s 50cc . Thanks in advance ty
Hi sorted it out now .the drive seemed to be slipping when I griped it with pliers .so I removed the front wheel and striped Down the drive all teeth ok etc . Turns out it was the little ring with the lugs on inside the hub . I punched the lugs with a flat head and hammer ever so slightly to position them differently put it back together and bobs ya uncle . I've added this for future users to solve there problems
Hey there glad u sorted your prob, I have an issue with my speedo turned out it was the drive, have to get mine replaced completely. Gonna cost me 60quid, damn second hand bikes, mine has been abit of a jonah.
I would, however, my mechanical skills are somewhat limited, rather pay a garage to do it, at least that way , I don't make anymore problems for myself.
