Speedo fault

2007 piaggio nrg power speedo not working and got mot in a couple of days, anyone got any suggestions where to start?

 

hi mate u dont need a speedo for mot i took my ped in once not working and it passed hope this helps

 

ive got the same problem mate, same bike too.. might just need a new speedocable, check the black wire going from your front wheel going up into the bike and see if its snapped

 

Hey, Take the bike to the MOT and it will pass as they dont check it. check from front wheel that the cable is all connected no loose areas or any tears or snapped, if no sign of that then i suggest just need new cable will sort the problem, keep us updated!

 

does ur nrg have the electric gauges??? or is it the old nrg???

 

Yeah new gauges, digital speedo. Not sure but I think it has an electronic pick up rather than traditional drive and cable. So a couple of you think it will pass without it? Might give it a try at least I will get 7 days to sort it and get retested free. Got no brake lights either, it's got an LED rear light unit and the lights work but no brake lights. I'm assuming there are 2 switches but usually I would have expected maybe one to go but not both, anyone know if they are a common fault?

 

i THINK you would need a relay for the leds ..but is it magnetic pick up

 

Nrg electric gauges like mine suck balls! worst shit ever!!
you might want to tell us exactly what doesnt work???
for the brake lights remove your panel and check if this white thingy works correctly

 

get brake lights sorted or it will fail!!

 

i converted my rear lights to led on my aerox with no issues on the brakes side of things, only the indicators flash too fast which is also an mot failure.

For the brakes it usually is the switched, but make sure the brake wire is connected to the new rear light, thier is a separate wire for rear light and brake light.
