    hi guys,

    need some advice,

got on my scoot (2000 Speedfight 100cc) last night and found that i had a flat rear tyre, after looking at and putting air in i realized that the hole was quite large and not really repairable.

got a quote this morning for a new rear tyre and replacement

was quoted £42.50 for the dunlop tyre and £30 to fit it, is this the normal going rate?
    total - £72.50

    thanks,
    rich

I need a rear tyre for my scoot and was quoted £12 fitting if wheel is off or £20 if it is on the scoot. Seems a lot when cars are only about £5 - £10 or even free fitting.

Ain't that hard to do yourself..go slow and a few big bodies peeling it on gently.then off for a balance.

    None.
    £30 fitting seriously isn't a lot.
£30 a hour labour. it takes them time to remove this and remove that, then get the wheel off, then get the tyre off, put new tyre on which can be a bitch sometimes on small wheels, then balance it, then put the wheel back on etc etc etc. bikes cost more to have tyres done because its more work. garages have to make money.
I charge £25 to fit a rear scooter tyre, £19 to fit a front one.
£11.50 to fit a car tyre.. why? because its a lot more work.. time is money. its a lot quicker and easier to whip a car wheel off than it is a scooter wheel.

I agree. The smaller the tyre the harder it is to change.
