Hi! So, I have a Speedfight with a SF1 block LC. A while ago i replaced the belt, rollers, vario and clutch with new standard stuff as it wasnt running that great (beforementioned stuff turned out to be worn). That clearly worked as it had oodles of power again and ran smooth as a babybut. Because the weather last 2 weeks was an ass (heavy rain and couple days of snow) I didnt use it during that time but today I took it to work again. I found out that it had some more trouble starting although it eventually did. It now runs like a dog :-( stationary is fine, the engine doesnt cut out but anywhere from halfway throttle up it splutters quite badly although eventually it will reach top speed but still splutter. It has been outside during the 2 weeks so kind of suspecting moist to be the issue. It’s not smoking extra or anything. Up to 3/4 throttle it will just splutter, at full throttle it will actually hold back even more sometimes. The thing has all standard parts. Could it be just moist? Or is the sparkplug ( 8 ) to cold for 2 degree celcius weather on std setup? One other thing I thought about, as there has been snow couple of days back and they salted the roads, could that be causing shorts in combination with a wet road?
Inspect the air filter sponge to see if its wet, then clean out the carb and see if you get any improvement, Also how old is the spark plug and is it time for a new one?
Sponge looks to be ok, it's a Malossi element and it feels dry so that shouldn't be the issue I guess, the plug is about 3 to 4 weeks old, I had a 6 in it before but that is a bit to warm I guess, I went for an 8 as they didn't have 7 at that time at the shop
Fixed it Apparently the plug was to cold to burn off the oil (coming to think of it, the engine temp didnt get over 62 degree celcius on the Koso dial. Temporarily switched back from the 8 to the 6 heatmark plug which made the engine get up to 75 degrees celcius and it runs fine again, it used to put out a tiny bit of smoke on the 8 which is now also gone! Maybe there was moist as well but it maybe evaporated due to the ride I made before switching the plug. Oh well, happy days again Think i will leave the 6 in and get a 7 come summertime
