I've come up with a weird idea in my head and I *think* it can be made to work, but I want some opinions from the specialists on here.

I would like to add a rev counter to my TKR but not a digital LCD type, I want to add a dial version but make it look like it's supposed to be there as if it was a factory fit. My cunning plan involves a set of Speedfight handlebars, the clocks and the plastic covers.

I want to replace the TKR's bars with the Speedfight ones and use the Speedy's plastic covers, then modify the clocks by removing the Peugeot blank from the air-cooled clocks, or the temperature gauge from the liquid-cooled model. Then I fill the hole I just created with a rev counter.

I may need to add the brackets for the TKR's indicators to the Speedfight handlebars and cut some small slots in the lower cover to allow them to be fitted, as the Speedy's covers fit top-and-bottom, not front-and-back like the TKR. That's not a big job though.

My first question is, will the Speedfight's bars fit the TKR? They look as though they will, but I could do with some confirmation.

My next question is where can I find a rev counter that is small enough to fit the hole in the Speedy's clocks? If I can find one, the size is more important than the colour as I can try to match up the clocks to the rev counter if needs be, there are several colours of Speedy clocks out there.

If this can be made to work, I might just end up with an interesting hybrid model at the end of my rebuild. It will certainly have a few people guessing what actual model my bike is, especially with my toned-down paint job and retro-looking badges that I have planned.

I have seen some custom instrument dash mounts that look nice. A guy on youtube has an O2 sensor mounted on his scoot with a digital display in the dash. It looks like it was factory.
Post some photos as the project develops. A local here in San Diego mounted a Garmin GPS in a custom instrument cluster. It looks great.

I had a bit of a play in Photoshop this morning and this is what my TKR would look like fitted with Speedfight handlebars. I've also mocked up where the Trekker indicators would be and the Mk 1 Trekker headlamp that I've fitted to mine instead of the awful projector headlights.

I like it; it's subtle but different and with a toned down change of colour, some road tyres, retro style badges and maybe changing the belly pan and seat for all black versions would certainly change it's image. It would end up being a 'Speedtrek' (that's not a bad name actually).

Depending on measurements, I might be able to install Speedfight front indicators where the black 'cheek' panels are on the TKR's bodywork. This would retain the clean lines of the Speedy's handlebars and the shape of the Speedy's indicators isn't too far off from the cheek panel's profile, so aesthetically it would still look like a factory fit.

My TKR is the 307 "Yellow 7" Edition, I just used that image as I found the two bikes photographed on a white background at more or less the same angle.

If you imagine that bright red bodywork in a dark metallic red (e.g. Peugeot Regency Red) with more tasteful retro-style badges instead of the lairy rally stickers, then you start to get the idea of what my project is about.

I'm also thinking of going for Vivacity 12" wheels with 120/70-12 tyres instead of the 190/90-10 tyres on the 10" rims that the TKR has. It will make the front end look less 'chunky' in appearance and the Viva uses the same twin forks. so they are a straight swap.

The bodywork should look something like this:-

the handles are a straight swap matey, pretty sure the clocks will be plug and play
And the 12 inch viva wheels front and rear are a straight swap

Thanks mate - my plan looks like it might just work then, as long as I can work out what to do with the front indicators.
