Speedfight brakes

    Hi my brake lever doesnt return.to original position and keeps the brakes stuck on anyone able to help?

    front or rear? and is it a disk brake rear model or has it got a drum brake at the rear?

    Rear and drum if I push the lever forwards it's fine it doesn't do it automatically

    Hi how would I find out what one it is and fix it sorry to sound stupid

    try first just lubricating the cable and brake arm a little, you can use either chain spray or that spray grease stuff, both should help.
    sounds a bit like the cable is a bit old and will possibly need changing.
    if lubricating doesnt make any difference, you could take the whole spindle out of the brake pivot, you will need to take off the rear wheel, then take off the brake shoes. then remove the cable adjuster nut thing from the brake arm and finally the brake arm itself and pull out the spindle. you will need to clean up the part of the casing where the spindle goes through and also clean up the spindle itself (a wire brush/80grit sandpaper) then grease the spindle up and the casing where it goes through and put it all together again.
    it sounds like a lot of works, but its quicker than changing the cable and cheaper.
    if non of those work its your cable thats deaded and needs changing...
