hi my name is Andrew am new this forum i own a Peugeot speedfight 2005 with just a vyper sports exhaust and i can only do 40 with this i have been interested in a 70cc big bore kit for awhile or even a 50cc sports kits but my local garage is charging 80 just to fit it. i have done all other work in my moped myself such as upjetting adding the exhaust and air filter i would like to add the 70cc myself. my first question is to do this do i have to remove the engine from the bike or is there a way to do it on the bike. my second question is upjetting by 10 more sizes enough.
don't get the sport 50 kit will be the biggest mistake you ever make as they dont have hardly any increase in power if not the same as standard, your best spending abit more and getting a recent 70 kit. fitting it is not a problem unbolt the head take that off pull the cyclinder off then take piston head off then replace with the 70 kit parts if done before about an hour jobs maybe 2 hour if not done before do it yourself dont pay a garage to do it as they know it's a piss easy fix and can just rob you blind
thanks for the reply can this be done with the engine still on the bike just taking of back fairings i know abit what to do have done it on two of my mini motos
it can be, but you whip the carb off (leave it hanging) unplug the wiring and undoo 22 bolts an the enignew comes out... much easier. dont have to completly remove it/take rear brake off or anything, just pull it out an turn it round a bit. will save time doing it this way. setting it up isnt so easy
Thanks guys am going to give it ago got one more week of school then am finished gonna give it ago but withoit taking of the engine would a haynes manual be usefull
I did mine about 3 weeks ago and it was dead easy, just be careful with the new rings they are quite brittle. I didn't take my engine out and it took about an hour and a half from start to finish. Then the fun starts. Setting up can be a nightmare. I only upjetted from 72 to 74 in the end as a bigger jet just made it bog. Settled with 8g rollers and it runs pretty sweet. Yours may be different, no 2 are the same and a bit of trial and error is needed. Start with a bigger jet (around 80)and work down from there. Still running it in but shouldn't take long. I only use it for work and back so no more than 5 miles each way. Take your time and work in a methodical way, easy peasy.
lol on a speedfight it take 4 bolts to remove the seat bucket then 4 bolts and the head is off. vertical engine are so easy to work on when there still in the frame. some one with experience can do a head swop on a speedy in under 10mins.
am deffo doing it just called the garage and they said 200 plus tuning but no way i have done the basic stuff like clean the carb and change the rollers and add a sports exhaust ordering it now and a tool kit am going to go with the motoforce 70cc
also getting a side stand to go with it and i changed my mine and just spent a bit more money to get the stage 6 kit and jets and i start work during the summer so will keep you guys updated with what i do next might save for a gilera for when i turn 17
don't change too many thing at ones. as a learner it easyer to do one thing at a time, but all the things you need to do are easy if you do them right the first time and dont cut corners. did you get a sports kit?
look what i just found so happy i didnt order from the other site just jet is this any good the other site was 102 http://www.pedparts.co.uk/product/2176/motoforce-sport-70cc-cylinder-kit--peugeot-ac-vertical how long will i need to run this in for and should i run premix just want to know before i order tonight and i currently running a 56 jet is a box of 54-72 jets enough
what carb are you running? the kit are ok, not the best but for £60 they pack a punch. as a sports kit there is no need to pre mix if you know your pump is working. running it in that a question with a 1000 different reply's. i own one of the kits and it 10 miles to my place of work. i ride like a fanny to and from work for one day, then i spanked its ass every day after and it still running after 6 months, but i had the time to set it up right....... jetting if you have a stock carb and air box your jetting will go up no more that 15%, you need to keep the kits RPM's under 9,000
Am running a gurnter standard carb with a 56 jet in it was think of upgrading the carb but i dont think theres a need i got a 65 a 64 and 59 jet in my moped spares box i will see how they will work the kit should arrive by thursday and i will start work from saturday morning
gurnter are horrible carbs and a dellorto 17.5 would be a nice upgrade or a 19mm would be even better. you will fill the difference. i would say jet will be at about 70
I was thinking of getting the 19mm will try get it had a fee priblems wuth the gurtner but got a manual choke and it runs great
Hi i just started taking apart my speedfight and when i got to removing that plastic box that covers the cylinder the 8mm bolts wont budge i have been trying with my 8mm spanner i only got the first one of but the other 2 wont budge the first one was hard at first. Is it because u cant use a spanner i got a socket wrench set with ratchet coming 2mozz will that do it for now i just sprayes the bolts with wd40 and leaving it to soak over night also i ordered a 8mm screwdriver style oneFor those of you who has removed it how did u do it what tool did you use
You really need a socket set to reach down below the fins on the head WD will help but they shouldn't be all that tight to be honest. When you come to putting it all back together, make sure you torque them down to the correct setting and don't strip the threads.
