Right, my project is well & truly underway & this is where the stupid questions start.
I have won a Malossi 70s kit on Ebay, so am looking at rollers, carbs etc.
I am, hopefully ripping the engine down today to see if there are any "goodies" already fitted.
I know that it has a TNT Manual choke carb, that I believe are shite, so will probably ditch it & go for a 100 carb & manifold & I'm guessing it's got different rollers in because it doesn't start to roll until it hits 8000 rpm. It's also fitted with a Doppler exhaust, so hoping it won't need too much more.

I'm looking at something that is fun to ride & fairly quick (if it ever can be :)). So my question is, what would be the best setup for it? Roller weight, clutch springs etc.

    Hi
pretty much impossible to say without trying it but I'm guessing a stiffer corrector spring and maybe lighter rollers. Which Malossi kit is it ?

Its a 31 9477 MHR Replica cylinder kit according to Malossi's website. I need to do a bit more homework on these scooters, not used to them lol

that should work well. dunno if you can just slap one of those on though. might need a bit of casework. Should be a beast though.

Are we talking cars, or 2 stroke mopeds here? ;) If it's cars, they have too many wheels for my liking, haven't owned one for years. Too much hassle

    Now then.
Onto jet sizes. I've bought a speedy 100 delorto & could do with a heads up on what size jet for the 70cc set up. I've seen the boxes of different sizes, but need a ball park figure so's i don't buy the wrong box :)

    My jetting guide:
look at what's in there before you start. With the same air box -
    upjet 10 /15 points for a move from a 50 to 70 cc motor -
10 /15 points at least for an exhaust
    another 10 /15 points for a bigger carb -
then add 5 points for the god of piston rings - try it - and down jet by two's 'till it works.

If it's an open filter -
upjet by 30 points at least
all the points are cumulative. So if you take a standard Ovetto (my scoot) - which started out with a gurtner 12 mm carb with a stock exhaust - jet is about 65

    Kit 70
    Carrerra 16
    28 mm carb
    Foam filter
You start with a 145 and work down (you end up with about 130/140 depending)

My maths may be out - but if in doubt, always err on the big side with jets. Saves engines -

All two stroke engines are liquid- cooled. And the liquid doing the cooling is petrol.
