Hi all, I have got a problem with my speedfight leaking, I am a completely nooby when it comes to anything like this and as such have no idea what is going on. I have got a video of it as that could explain it much better than I can.
FUEL LEAK . check the fuel pipe that pushes onto the carbs fuel inlet nipple is not loose or split . if thats ok you have an overflow somewhere and welcome to the scooter shack David
Thanks for the quick reply mate. I feel embarrassed to say this but that sentence flew over my head, not sure what those things are aha. I will do some quick googling and see if I can figure it out!
Below is a picture of a carb, you can see it has various points pipes will push onto aka nipples. what has nodoubt happened is your fuel pipe has slipped off or has a split in it and this is causing fuel to be pumped out when the motor is running and that is what your seeing now, when your bike is not running there is no fuel being pumped, but when running the bike pumps fuel to the carb and there you see a leak. in your video see that large airbox sitting infront of the carb , well behind that are your fuel pipe lines going into carb you need to check they are on nice and tight and there is not splits or holes in those pipes. Please do not ride like this david its a hazzard to you if it catches fire, its a bank holiday monday so wait till the morning when you can see and have a good look and check those fuel pipe lines making sure they are secure, if problem still happens your going to need some tools , flat screwdriver , philips screwdriver , black electrical tape and a small'ish ziptie or two so we can secure the fuel pipe propper onto the nipple as a semi fix
Hi mate, had a quick look couldn't see much for concern, do I need to remove the airbox to see all the pipes? Or take the seat out? Snapped a few pictures don't know if they are just random pipes but you can see more than I can Thank you for the concern, I will not be riding it at all until this is fixed.
Is the bottom part of the carb (float bowl) plastic? If so it could be the drain screw has been over tightened which has cracked it... which means new float bowl...
metal float bowl, in the video its leaking bad from the inlet side of carb manifold to motor so much so its dripping off the jubile clip holding carb to manifold then running down to the carb bowl to. im hedging on its a fuel pipe leak. yes buddy im going to say you will need to remove that airbox to get a more better look at the carb as a whole. this way you can inspect the tubes and see if they are split. i am going to say you have a split fuel pipe and thats whats causing the massive leak
