Hello, just joined. Having a nightmare with a speedfight 2 LC. Initially started for a few seconds and then nothing. Have changed vacuum petcock, carb and variator crank seal. Still nothing. Now, having checked for spark, nothing. The bike has been fitted with an after market cdi unit next to battery and appears to have been wired into harness whilst the original dellorto 8 pin CDI/oil pump unit is still present. The dellorto unit appears to have heat damage near one of its pins and have ordered a new one. I have so far checked coil and stator output and they appear to be functioning. Cannot find a wiring diagram for this model anywhere and surely it shouldn't have two CDI units fitted. I am contemplating rewiring ignition with just the 8 pin dellorto if as I presume, it should only have one cdi. Thanks in advance.
Some speedfights had an immobiliser as well. Some were built in to the cdi unit. It can be bypassed on some but not all.
Turning into a nightmare. The scooter has the dellorto CDI/oil pump fitted and is a non immobiliser model. I have taken plastic fairings off and examined loom. I removed the wires to the 5 pin cdi that had been crudely spliced into the wiring harness. Replaced the dellorto, rectifier, coil, stator and battery. Nothing. No sign of spark. Can't find anything online regarding if this 2009 model ran two CDI units and looking at harness, it didn't. Now I have burnt out the new stator trying to see if the 5 pin secondary cdi was required. Turning into a whit elephant!
I think I have a theory as to why you have 2 cdi's.................. Because the original cdi has the oil control built in to it, I'm thinking that the spark generation side of it went down and only the oil control part was working. It is possible to fit another cdi into the loom to get the spark back, but I've only done it on other models with the ACE400 cdi which has two plugs on it. Here's what I did on my Speedfight 100 2 stroke: There's also loads of other videos I made on the total rebuild of it.
It was the pick up from the 8 pin I was hoping you had. Can't find any wiring diagram for the dellorto CDI and wanted to ascertain the correct wires to splice. Thanks again.
