Hello, I currently have a Speedfight 2 with a restricted stage6 exhaust, and currently in two minds about taking the restrictor out. at 19 is there anyways to make it "legal". insurance for example do you guys declare it to them? It so bloody slow, dangerous and pulling away from traffic lights is embarrassing lol. Btw it's still a 50cc.. Cheers

take it out, and tell your insurance and the DVLA that it is no longer restricted to 45kmh... perfectly legal if you are over 17....

Well I told my insurer the other week about the aftermarket exhaust and few other mods and they canceled my policy and had to pay £120 remainder of my policy... So looking at MCE, bennets as they seem to be the only ones that are mod friendly.. Regarding the DVLA i emailed them not too long ago, their reply never answered my question about the De-restriction... Instead they when on about how i can ride a 125cc on a cbt?? Is there anyway how i could word it so i dont get the same back? Thanks again, Daniel

I don't think dvla are really bothered about scooters being de-restricted. Just the insurance companies. I just insured the katana again, they asked about any mods, told them about the exhaust being changed, no difference at all. If anything, because you are older than 16, and can legally ride up to 125cc, I can't see them being bothered.

I'm doing quotes online, i have listed the exhaust and other mods but not sure what too select for the de-restriction. I see "exhaust system changes - performance" and De-restictor kits. Would it be any of them?
