My speedfight1 2004 is smokey and oily, slow to warm up , sluggish on acceleration and pop pops on deceleration. Thinking rich mix so I am going to set the jets back to stock size but am struggling to find the data. Main jet is listed as 72, starter jet 50 and put needle on top clip? Is this correct and what should the idle jet be? Currently 36 fitted in my gurtner pa360. Stock air box, restrictions put back on for my son to ride it. Any advice welcomed. Thanks
sounds like your mixture screw is set wrong to me. what do you mean by smokey and oily? its common for speedfights to be smokey on startup, the oil pump leaks through when they are not in use. i wrote a guide somewhere on this forum about start problems on speedfights and minerellis.
Thanks. It was giving off heavy white smoke early then reduced when warm. Boggy running until warm and oil visibly spitting on exhaust out of pipe. Figured it was rich, worse when cold until auto choke closed up a little. So... I put all back to factory settings, 72 main, ( was 76) 36 slow idle and clip on top slot of 3 on main needle. Was on middle. Mixed reaction, less smoke and smooth running now however harder to start from cold and revs high. Tickover is nice but when I run scooter and then decelerate the engine takes ages to slow down to idle, even at a standstill...so, too lean? If so do I enlarge main jet or adjust clip on needle? Which causes this lean condition between deceleration and idle? Thanks in advance. Peugeot speedfight 1 , gurtner pa360 carb.
sounds like your mixture screw is set wrong. also sounds like your fuel has maybe a little water in there?

Thank you for taking the time to give feedback. I,ll keep playing with the mixture screw and see if I can get it to drop the revs quicker on deceleration. Thanks for the link to your guide.
