As you know i just bough an RD 125.....once running it tends to adjust its idle by itself and wont sit at 1500/2000 RPM ! also it seems to run smoothish once its got going but it sometimes revs like mad when in first gear then just dies and then takes ages to start up again! any ideas? (SORRY FOR THE VAGUE DESCRIPTION)

take the whole inlet side off including reeds, clean everything maticulously and check everything for even the slightest sign of damage, as minor said, the choke may not be sealing properly, usually due to a worn or perished choke rubber (on the bottom of the brass slide).

or it could be your throttle cable has been routed wrong.
