Hey guys, Fitted my new exhaust yesterday, fired it up today and after a few minutes the pipe starts smoking where it goes into the engine head, have I blown the head gasket? I've checked the engine and gear oil, both are on acceptable levels, although due for a change soon, they are still within acceptable levels. Please help
hi is it a 4 stroke or a 2 stroke? What exhaust is it ? You can't ´blow´ an exhaust gasket. Sometimes the exhaust plate needs modification so it will fit flat. With an angle grinder and a hammer. Be not afraid. Always bolt the exhaust on the cylinder with the exhaust mounting plate bolts (to the frame) loose. then see where you are and how it aligns. Sometimes you have to attack the plate, sometimes the plate between the pipe and the frame. I hate bolt on exhausts. This is why I run Yasuni exhausts (c 16 and above). They are spring held on and you don't have all this bullshit to deal with...... Sorry, just saw your other post. It's a 2 stroke right ? Exhausts are just plumbing. The same rules apply. If it don't fit, make it fit !
Seems there is more to it than that, as the plumbing looks spot on. There is some noise when running the engine, still can't get my head around to what it is... This is how the ped sounds/revs while cold This is what it does when warmed up.. Ideas? Forgot to mention the exhaust pipe is getting extremely hot within like 3minutes of giving the ped some revs and white smoke coming from around the pipe where it goes into the engine head.
I have to admit that I know nothing of four strokes. You need the advice of someone who knows what he's talking about- and with your machine, frankly, I don't. Sorry bro !
Appreicate the help mate. And to think back when I was looking for a ped, I thought going for a 4 stroke would be a safe move, what a big joke that has turned out to be Lately fix one thing, another goes wrong, just hoping to avoid taking it to a garage as I really can't afford it for the third time
