As you all know about a month a go I had a little trouble with my engine, when after fitting a yasuni city 16 pipe i blew a hole through my piston crown :? well im afraid more bad luck has struck the engine today.... I started hearing a slight rattle coming from the engine, which only occured during tick over, then after a few days it occured during tick over and light throttle :? then eventually it did it all the time, and by now had got quite loud.... As a precaution i went into work on the bus on friday, as i was sure something was a miss, I suspected either main bearing damage or possibly small end bearing damage :? So to day i stripped the engine down and found this Obviously there must of been some debris left in the engine from when i had the hole in my piston drama, the debris has damaged the small end bearing which in turn has damaged the piston and head... Im not messing around anymore, the engines getting a full rebuild, new crank, bearings, lightly flowed cases and as my piston and head on the rep are damaged im using that as an excuse to buy a more powerful 70 kit The only down side is my Runner will be off the road for several weeks.... oh well such is life....never mind ive gotta get changed and washed up now, im meeting the boys down the pub
happens to the best of us. a new engine for a new year. now slap on the old spice and have this to walk down to the pub with
wats the barrel look like ? n is it mhr rep i cnt member ? bad look m8 but ull be back on the old horse in no time lol. n good excuse for rebuild like u say lol
yep it happens.... just got to make sure the next engines quicker turn a - into a + right i really gotta go now
hmm, if your thinking evo i can probably figure you a twin ring kit with similar poirt area/timings for a bit less.. or somthing more suitable to a c16..
init, more tuning opportunities, more power, more grunt, more speed. Any excuse ay? And a bloody good excuse to give the old woman so you can go down the pub for a "quick one"
Be looking forward to seeing the build up Dave. I bet as you did it you wasn't like oh fuck, it was like, right what do I need, bearings bla bla better 70 kit, ooh whilst it's split, new crank bit of flowing bla bla :blah:
id guess he was quite pissed off.. pistons only a few weeks old... ah well, evo, wider case, bigger carb, huge smile
Basically when i fitted the c16, because it was cold and miserable all the time I kept putting off doing a plug chop...."Ah its running really well it'll be ok" I thought.... it was running lean and holed the piston, so its all my own making really :rtfm: And when it holed the piston and there was bits of metal everywhere, the correct thing to do would of been split the cases and make sure every scrap of metal was out, But no i tried to flush it out with petrol... oh well, i would say you live and learn, but i knew i was cutting corners when i did it, but people get lazy especially working on bikes in the winter no point moaning on, theres parts to collect for my next engine It wont be an evo though, im going for something power wise in between a rep and an evo....about 15-16hp
well, twin ring t6 kit will be spot on really... cheap, effective, and can be improved on DRASTICLY if you so decide to... single ring kits and miles dont mix (im having trouble geting a twin ring to last tbh)
well, can lay an evo/mhr map over it, use a single ring piston and get the full 20bhp quoted if all the other parts are fitted.. easy 12 horse out the box if you widen out the transfers and match up the stup, slight raise on the zaust and sharpen the top shape and it will start pushing out the real power.. rpm becomes a factor tho ether way mine will be here somtime this week so ill have a grind an slam some pics/vids up..
nah, try'd it twice.. pipe dont like it. need a decent pipe next really.. well and a gear up. then ill push the timings right up, for now just a wide sport map... mabey have a play but nothing major till i have a pipe that likes harsh timings
