Hi and hello all, Needing to pick someones brains, I own a yiben hurricane 125 (i know I know!) and use it for the daily commute ( 5miles a day), its fine except when it rains, then it becomes stuttery and eventually stops, I found the source of this because the ht leads primary wiring terminals got wet and stopped the bike running, it ran well for a while however earlier this week the bike got thourghly soaked and starting to run badly eventually dying at work, Ive noticed now the kick start has lost resistance ( compression), so cant start either way, so I'm wondering what to do next. change spark, ht lead and all, poss clean carbs?? anyone??
In my opinion, sell it and buy a quality bike before you go wasting money on parts that will just go wrong again and again and again... If you do replace the kickstart, HT lead and everything that keeps getting wet and breaking then make sure you modify the parts so they are waterproof.
I know it wont stop the ht lead from getting wet but spay all your terminals and electrics with wd40 its good at dispersing water :good: so it should help protect them from water a little max,
Im not been funny, but i've just read this post and firstly yes the route of the origanal problem might of been the dampness getting to the ht lead and coil etc.. BUT this would not lead to loss of compression (thats a worn piston ring problem!).. UNLESS!, of course the kick start aint locking onto the variator properly. But if the kickstart was fine before then i really doubt that diagnosis. so.. Firsty check the kickstart again making sure its clogging on to the variator (turning over the engine).. If so and the compression is low.. consider it may well be a worn piston ring. Secondly (providing the first check,checks out fine) locate the coil and spray it with wd40/gt85.. and if possible block areas which water can get to it through.. also spray the ht lead with lubricant to keep out moisture. Thirdly.. If still no look or if it is a piston ring.. give it to poor person (who actually may appreciate a crappy chinky import lol) and buy a well branded scoot such as gilera,yamaha,honda etc Good Luck :wave:
