My bike is just recently doing my head in, on a dry day it works fine but during a damp or rainy day it starts and ticks over but refuses to rev up, just cuts out instead.

I borrowed it to a friend and he put the high octane fuel in without my knowledge, when he brought it back it was playing up.

Stripping the carb did no good so I bought a new one and it worked fine until the evening when it happened again, at that point he told me about the fuel.

I completely cleaned out the tank and the carb etc and refilled with normal unleaded and it worked fine until we had a downpour earlier, despite it being under cover.

It starts but does the same, cuts out when I open the throttle.

Getting desperate now, hope someone can help

    Thanks

Check your plastics are fitting together properly,as water may be/being guided to hit certain spots.

The higher octane fuel wouldn't cause that problem I don't think.
Does it have an open filter on it?
Is there a good seal at the airbox if standard?
Is the airbox itself sealed properly?

    Thanks for the replies

I have ordered a new loom as under closer inspection it does seem as though someone has messed with it, the plugs to cdi were iffy also

    cheers

Thanks, think it was to do more with rain than fuel but seemed a coincidence, especially as the fuel we drained had sediment in it.

    To answer your questions:

    closed filter
    good seal
    generic but ok

    thanks again
