Yesterday I put a mallosi 70cc kit, delloto 17.5mm carb, polini reed block, Doppler manifold, polini variator, clutch and clutch bell on my aerox. All is fine and it pulls dead well, carb seems to be set up properly etc. I don't really want to thrash the tits of it yet due to it being new but I was just wondering if I should up gear or not? People say I should, people say I shouldn't? If anyone else has a similar set up any advice would be great. Roller weights advice would also be appreciated, but these do seem to be set up well at the moment.

Gear up will be good for long distance speeds aka 60+ but no need if you just ride road towns. Also when you're running in you're not ment to go no where near the speeds a gear up kicks in. Can't give you advice on rollers as like I said on every thread. All bikes are different. You can't really say oh you'll need 5g rollers 72 jet over the web as you havn't road the bike ;)

Thanks for the advice. And I know I shouldn't of went top speed but you've gotta check don't you ;) im sure the jets are fine to be honest so il leave them. I just can't be bothered with buying rollers, changing and checking hundreds of times lol most of my driving is city based so yeah, il leave the gears. :) problably take it to a tuning shop near me, let them sort it when I've got my exhaust. Just bin on a ride this morning and theres defo a few tweaks that it needs here and there! Job for later :p

Are you using the standard exhaust that came with the bike?... surely you would run much better with something else...

Yh standard exhaust with restrictors chopped out its had holes in and is rusty as hell and don't perform well with the setup I have now so time for a new one. Yasuni city R is on the books. Any ideas? Only left it standard to look legal whilst 16 ;) 18 now and never got round to gettin a new one...

...Never tried the City R... don't do Road Legal other than for MOTs :p

From the thread about exhauts performance it seems to be a good one to go for though.

    Hi Jimrox,
On your specific aerox with a malossi sports kit and sports exhaust or standard exhaust you really do need a gear-up kit to get full use of the engine power
The reason is that with your setup your engine will be making peak power at around 9200rpm and the power will drop off very quickly after this, even more so with the standard exhaust.
On an aerox with standard gearing it's impossible to exceed 45mph without also exceeding 9200rpm no matter what rollers you use which means that it's impossible to have full power on tap when you mash the throttle at any speed over 45mph. With a gear kit you can still be running at 9200rpm @ 55mph (full peak power)... but without a gear kit you can't make 55mph without exceed 11000rpm and the malossi sport is making less than half of its peak power at those revs... so unless you keep under 45mph all the time the engine will be spending its life over-revving and running out of its powerband !
    cheers,
    Andy

Fitted the sports pipe today and it's performing well so far so what il do is run it for a while and see what it feels like and see what sort of speeds I'm goin at mostly. Then go from there, I see what your saying though mate and it all makes sense, a little more top end would be nice but I don't want to lose too much acceleration for it! Cheers for the advice andy. what gear up kit would you recommend? :)

tbh all gear ups are the same.. its just the percentage increase.. i have a pm tuning one with a 21% increase, which on the dyno at works shows peak power at about 9,500rpm and a road speed of 74mph :L
cant stand riding it without it in :)

That's pretty quick. Il just go for a decent one, I dunno Malossi or polini but about 18% cuz I only got the sport kit.

Can you send me a link of one that will defo fit as I don't know the amount of teeth on the intermediate shaft. Suppose I could phone pedparts and ask and order at the same time though. probably be simpler

i rode the 21% gear up with a malossi cast iron 70 kit which was only putting out 8hp.. and it handledit fine.. :)
just go to any shop, and if you select the right model, it should fit straight in surely?

Ahh il go 21% then :p and yeh if I buy a pre pressed one it's basically a matter of swapping them round but if I get one you have to press together then il just press the buggers.. Sorted. Il phone about tomorrow. Cheers for the advice pal
