So when it comes to security, what do you guys have in the way of any thieves? Have any of you been thieves or know thieves and what they would avoid?

Oh and also, on topic, I was thinking of buying a Datatool s4 Alarm/Immobiliser but they are like £250 fitted. Does anyone here have that? The prices on these things are very high, so are there any dealers out there that are offering it cheap that you might know about?

    I appreciate any responses. :hitit:

    got a datatool alarm

3 heavy duty locks with padlocks

and a nice 5oz hammer under my seat

just get the cheaper datatool alarm, will still have an alarm and is only half the price.only reason i got an actual thatcham approved datatool alarm is cos it lowered my insurance, otherwise i would of bought a cheapy one of fleabay.

peds weigh nothing especially typhoons so if thieves want it they will pick it up and chuck it in a van, or try and rob you while your on it.

so therefore save the money for a hammer or a lock in a sock (ftw!!)

ah the joys of having a ped in london!!

I got an Almax chain. Prepared to go get an alarm/immobiliser and will try and take advantage of the insurance discount as well. It's all expensive shit though. As far as being robbed of it when i'm on it im gonna ask if any alarms/immobilisers I get have a cut off thing on them to stop the bike if it's ever being ridden by someone else. I know they exist, you heard anything about them?

EDIT: Oh, and carry on boxing.

problem with the alarms with cut off are the button is on the fob the fob is on the keys. the keys are in the bike usless if you get jacked. get a kill togle thing then if you get jacked just pull it out and throw it as far as you can. over a fence if possible else you will just get bet up for the togle aswell. not really alot you can do about getting jacked just stay our of dodgy ares. not easy if you livwe in london :D

I wasn't planning on holding the toggle on the keys for the bike. I'd just shut it off half way up the road... I got some smarts though, i'm hoping they're enough to stay out of the ends.

alarms are only any good if your within hearing distance or as an added precaution i knew a few bike theives back in mchester that used an adapted transit freezer van cause once the bike was in the back and doors shut you could not hear it.

With the Datatool alarm/immobiliser, does anybody know whether it has remote start/stop?

    Anyone own this device?

Tell me how you find it. Was it easy to set up? Does it have remote start/stop? Is the alarm sensitive and the immobiliser effective etc?

    Appreciate any help.

I NEARLY HAD MY BIKE STOLE BUT DUE TO HAVING A GOOD LOCK IT DIDNT, MANY PEOPLE PAY 60 POUND FOR A DECENT CHAIN BUT THEN PUT SOME CHEAP POUNDLAND LOCK ON IT, THIEVES GO FOR THE LOCK SO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A GOOD LOCK AND CHAIN AND IT ENT GOING NO WHERE ;)

dont bother with a cyclone 2 alarm, especially the talking one...

the alarm cost me £30 odd? i think, was very cool at first but the novelty with it talking wears off, its so embarassing, and had an incident with some random chavs were crowding round the bike randomly moving it to make it talk lol

and 3 months later the alarm died, just constantly chirped all night in the hallway and by morning it was dead as a doornail, got a 3 month warranty provided ya have it fitted by a company and theyd obv blame that company for fitting it wrong....

as for padlocks id agree, mine and my mates ped were chained up with a fucking massive chain and a cheap hardware store padlock, it was twisted off basically as we found it where the bikes were...
