    Hi guys
i just got the piston out of a non starting low compression (75 psi) aprilia atlantic 125 maxi scooter
it has scoring on the skirt and the top comression ring seemed stuck on one side .. but with a little force it came out.

why did this happen and would this cause the low compression, and should i just buy a new piston and rings ?

the cylinder looks ok, in fact i still see some cross hatching in there, no real scoring..
    thanks rob :) scored piston.jpg

we charge about 50 pound to do a hone at work, probably half that in the uk im guessing

You can buy a hone for less than that and then you're sorted for life. but if you walk into a decent garage with the barrel, they should do it for you then and there for a fiver. it´s no effort at all.
