Hi all, I've just finished my project and I have a problem starting my scooter. I changed the carb from a 12mm stock to a 17.5mm and all I did was change the main jet. I can't get the scooter to start off the electric start unless I inject fuel directly into the carb, then it runs fine. I thought at first it was just dry but it won't start after a good run. Any ideas? I'm in the process of renewing the kickstart so I haven't tried starting it from that yet Cheers
Thanks for the replies. The choke is new as I changed it with the carb. When I inject fuel it starts straight away and revs high for a few minutes and they dies down to idle so I think the choke is working. Would the reed petals stop it from starting but allow it to run fine?
i got it, the float bowl is probably draining out, when you leave it overnight or whatever, does it drip a little bit of fuel? ive seen it on a few yamahas and peugeots, the carb drain screw leaks, the fuel empties out, the when you come to start it, there is no fuel in the float bowl, so it takes ages to start, make sense?
I didn't notice any fuel on the floor but I did take the float bowl off to change the main jet and I did spill loads. Ill try filling it up and see what happens. Thanks
